Are You Tired?
I have three brothers. I'm the oldest, followed by Mason, then Will, then Wade. Four years separate each of us.
Brother Mason is with the Lord and has been for forty-three years. I was sixteen when he passed away.
Brother Will lives on the other side of the tracks here in Fort Worth. Of course, he would argue that I live on the other side of the tracks. Either way, eight years and about five minutes separate us, not enough to prevent us from watching football together and eating wings on Wednesday.
Twelve years under me is brother Wade. He and his wife have three kids and live in Austin three and a half hours to the south. Wade was diagnosed with liver cancer almost a year ago. In case you didn't know, liver cancer is tough stuff, but then to my knowledge no Gillham has had liver cancer before.
Periodically, Wade writes a blog. There are a few posts that take you into the labyrinthine hallways of MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, but every post takes you to another place--a profound place--only the soul of Wade can go. The address again is, here.
Earlier this week Wade posted some thoughts about parenting while being tired, very tired. You will see a couple of references to cancer, but you will find a superb article on being a parent while tired and stressed written from the mind of a man who is paying attention to each moment of every day. I want you to have access to this fine, fine piece of writing and wisdom.
Here's his entry on being a tired parent.
Feel free to share, and while you're at it, if you are a praying person, please mention Wade and his family to God.
