I realized that pretending everything is okay when it is not is a lie. 

Every now and then, Father gets stuck on an idea and obsesses about it with me for a long time. Lately, every time I ask Him if He has any counsel for me, He has been saying the same thing: “Love, Preston.”

My agnostic friend offered interesting counsel. Sitting by the fire with me, he said, “Preston, you have to embrace the security that must exist between you and your God and live there, untouchable as a person, regardless of what anyone might say about you.” 

Marketing—selling, convincing, etc.—is often shied away from in Christian circles. We feel like it is less than spiritual. But the reality is, the Scriptures exhort us to be marketers.

Your relationship with God is as secure as Jesus’ relationship is with God. 

The approach of “buy this, right now” is pressured and fearful. It leaves little room for interaction and negotiation. 

One word. Translated into three. Carrying the combined weight, genius, and remarkable life of Jesus Christ.  

When Jesus said, “It is finished,” He declared to us a completed action. He referenced an event that was consummated, concluded, and now exists in a finished state. 

What is the “it” Christ references, and how finished is “finished?”  

Every one of us is on one side or the other of the equation…frequently, if not perpetually. And apparently this is true of God as well.

Forgiveness is not contingent.

God determined that He wanted to forgive us and then made a provision—Jesus Christ—for His desire to be realized.

I forgot. Dianne worried. I need forgiveness. My wife needs to forgive.
