I do believe He wishes to convey that we are His family, that through Christ we are worthy to be in His presence, and that He is approachable.

By definition this means, Christ is adequate to get us into heaven; enough to get us by in life, and able to do through us those things required of us. 

I don’t think so! 

The second is the God we have been discussing. He does not serve us.

Jesus Christ does not love me only enough to adequately satisfy my need to be loved. He loves me beyond my ability to comprehend. He loves me more than enough to fill up the infinite capacity of God, which is beyond knowledge

I was thinking about that word—“sufficient”—this morning while I was riding my bicycle along the river trail. Just to be certain “sufficient” meant what I thought it meant, I looked it up.

My history with reconciliation has to do with a checkbook and budget. I like numbers conceptually, but grinding them until they reconcile is an art that makes me appreciate accountants.

We use similes and metaphors all the time, principally because they are effective tools of communication. An example advances information by associating facts with a story. 

The fact is, showing someone what to do is much more effective than telling someone what to do.
