The Offense I Committed

You need to know what I discovered.
When I angered society’s powerbrokers in 2021, the growth of subscribers to my writing dropped from double-digits to 0% and stayed flat.
Or, so I thought.
By the end of 2021, I had stopped looking at my website analytics. The numbers were discouraging, depressing, and what was there to see? Growth was steady at 0%. My profession as a marketable author was concluded.
Last week, something interesting transpired.
Every day, I receive a report on how my websites perform. Since late 2021, I delete each day’s report. But a couple of weeks ago, I opened a report and discovered double-digit growth. I dismissed the anomaly.
A few days later, I opened another report. Double-digit increase in subscribers. I didn’t get my hopes up.
Finally, my guarded heart’s curiosity was piqued. Last week I logged in to view the analytics for my websites and discovered two things:
First: Sign-ups to receive my articles have been increasing daily since April 2025. I have no idea why. Delivery to my subscribers is still unreliable and random.
Second: I reviewed my site history. Month after month, growth was flat, flat, flat—until July 12, 2024, a year ago.
It’s just politics, isn’t it?
On this day, regular delivery, such as it was, dropped by 73%. Readership dropped by 97%. Then, from July 2024 until April of this year, subscribers fell off in a steady decline, yet there were no “unsubscribes” of statistical significance. Subscribers were simply disappearing. Between July 2024 and March 2025, my database decreased by about 30%.
So, the obvious question: What did I write on July 11, 2024 that incited this repercussion?
You can find the complete article here—but here’s a summary:
A year ago, just as I had done in July 2021, I wrote about the two choices before our society: reliance upon a Socialized-Communistic government to take care of us or reliance upon God to take care of us.
The same topic that drew brutal censorship in July 2021 resulted in more censorship and systemic recrimination in July 2024.
Although I’m not one for conspiracy theories, over the last four years I’ve wondered. But with this statistical evidence? The people dedicated to the social narrative of Socialized-Communism wouldn’t be bothered if I wasn’t shining a light into their darkened ideology.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
The choice is stark: Which will it be? In government we trust or in God we trust?
But it’s just politics, isn’t it? Obama started it. Now it’s Trump. The mid-terms are coming.
Why do we have to choose?
Because this isn’t politics. Politics are written about every day. Men in suits mud wrestling and a complicit media designating the next cycle of mud holes.
But politics is not what created such recrimination. My thesis is that society’s convulsions are not political. Our problem is spiritual. Therefore, the solution is spiritual.
In 1848, Karl Marx published, The Communist Manifesto, the template for socialized government then and now. Perhaps the most famous tenet of Marx’s manifesto is that religion is the opium of the people. What Marx understood is that religion—belief in, and reliance upon God, in any form—deludes people to such an extent that a Socialized-Communist government cannot succeed as long as society harbors any room for God. Atheism is essential in order to establish Socialism.
Marx understood that the choice between socialized government and God is binary. It’s an either-or choice, not a both-and option. The father of socialized, collective ideology understood: Anything short of total allegiance to the state will result in a failed state.
History reveals in graphic horror the utter inanity of Socialism.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the debate, God is clear: You shall have no other gods before Me. Absolute allegiance to anyone other than me is infidelity to us both.
Neither socialized government nor God tolerates the other because each requires allegiance that is intolerant of the other’s claim of legitimacy.
The utopian promises of Socialized-Communism ensure equity. This promise is so noble that it justifies elimination of any obstruction or dissent.
The divine standard is, “You may not have any gods other than Me. Ally yourself with Me or go your own way.”
Marx and God agree: Socialized-Communism and the Kingdom of God are mutually exclusive.
Thus, given the governmental gods’ dedication to a collective, socialized society governed by them, their determination to silence me is necessary and justified.
At one level, this usurpation of power to disregard America’s constitution, rule of law, and representative government should inflame patriotic indignancy, public denunciation, and repudiation at the ballot box. Seizure of human freedom should alarm us. History reveals in graphic horror the utter inanity of public figures advocating that we give Socialism another try. To date, humankind’s efforts to make Socialized-Communism work has resulted in untold misery and loss of life totaling about 100,000,000 souls.
These stark realities demand our attention. What could possibly be of such human consequence that we would capitalize upon the decaying bodies of millions, and the broken-hearted misery of hundreds of millions, to give Socialized-Communism another try?
Answer: Because the alternative to Socialized-Communism is allegiance to God. As Dylan observed, “You’ve got to serve somebody.” You either bow your knee to government or to God. As it has been since the Garden, this is the dilemma for every man, woman, culture, and society. There is one choice only: Will you reside in the Kingdom of Cain or the Kingdom of God?
While God respects your choice to go your own way, a collective government cannot afford that luxury. All dissent and obstruction must be eliminated.
Thus, I am not suffering for political reasons. I am suffering for stating a spiritual truth. There are only two options before us: government or God.
But why me? In the symphony of society, I’m playing last clarinet in the Junior High band. Why would Lifetime-PHG be a threat?
First, I’m not the only one. I suspect I’m one of thousands silenced by the governmental gods.
Second, any dissident must be silenced. Collective ideology won’t tolerate anything less.
Third, I’m small enough that when they disappear me, no one will notice. Power is gained by attrition.
Back to the conspiracy question: Should you dismiss me as a crazy man barking at the moon?
Prior to last week’s statistical discovery and the correlation to my singular message, maybe. But not now. Now, you must cover your eyes to claim the sun didn’t come up.
What to do?
Do not go quiet into the night.
First: We are not experiencing political upheaval. We are caught between opposing kingdoms contending for the hearts of humankind.
Politicians blather about whatever they think will get them reelected. This doesn’t mean what they talk about is political.
Second: Don’t be deceived. Humanity’s existential question and this spiritual conflict will not be resolved with the next election. As far as Scripture is concerned, God established Donald Trump, as well as Joe Biden, and Barak Obama, and Nero (cf. Rom. 13:1). Earthly power is fickle and transient. Open your eyes! God alone is good, reliable, and eternal. Upon whom will you depend?
Third: In all things and for all things, pray: “Father God, you are my source, my hope, and my significance! My trust is in you alone.”
Fourth: The stark dynamic playing out in Western democracies is a spiritual line of demarcation: Choose whom you serve. You partner with spiritual forces for either awakening or repression.
Finally: Engage! Choosing moderation, indifference, apathy—or choosing not to choose—are choices that endorse the earthly system of control. God’s Kingdom is not of this world, but you live in the world and are called to be light in this present darkness.
God did not fill you with His Spirit so you could hunker down waiting for Jesus to return. “Kick at the darkness til it bleeds daylight,” said Cockburn. “Run the race,” said Paul. “Shed entanglements,” states Hebrews.
Rock ‘n roll, reader-friend.
Do not go quiet into the night. Yours is the Kingdom of Light. Your allegiance is to the One in whom there is no shadow, no shift, no shade. You would not be deployed into the kingdom of mankind if God did not intend you to shine like a beacon.
The pitiful souls depending upon government to form utopia may silence you, may seize your property, may exile you, and even destroy your body. But their darkness cannot extinguish the Light who lives within you.
Every ray from each point of light in the universe declares the glory of God. Such is your privilege as well.
Live! Walk in the light.
