To stop short of grace is to stop short of Jesus Christ.

The person of Jesus Christ—grace personified—is a courageous endowment of God.

The skin and the blood and the dirt and the mortar all mixed together—out behind the garage.

Rather than attempt to conform an eccentric to our world, if we are courageous and noble minded, we step into their world.

If we are to be advocates on behalf of our Heavenly Father, then it stands to reason we must know Him, and know Him well.

I have spent many, many hours attempting to define God with lists of character qualities.

An eccentric person is out of the ordinary, unusual, different than we expect, or often than we accept. 

It is profoundly interesting that all of Christ’s disciples, save John who was exiled, are martyred for their faith. 

Nearly anything we do to engage people on meaningful levels of compassion, concern, and care constitutes giving our lives to them.

There were more followers of Jesus killed in the twentieth century than in the previous nineteen centuries combined!

I’m not sure God has any coincidences. He describes Himself as more intentional than coincidence accommodates.

As your life returns to a normal routine of customary mania, the kids have homework, and bedtimes are inflexible, Battle for the Round Tower might be the diversion and desire your heart is hoping to find. 

Out of His grace God acts mercifully and the result in our lives is peace.

Grace precedes mercy and mercy precedes peace in Scripture. 

The short answer to why we pray is that our Father appreciates the discussion.

I can’t help but wonder if my angst in prayer doesn’t belie who God is while revealing a shortfall in my faith.

One verse about prayer has held my attention for a number of years. 

Sometimes I simply pray and say, “Dear God, concerning all that concerns me, what’s on your mind? In Jesus name, Amen.”

Followers of Christ are given a new heart when we are transferred from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light.

The heart is the core of us, the deepest and most thoroughgoing aspect of us.
